Here is a list of the top 20 Indian states vs Chinese Provinces by population (1947-2020). India is a union of twenty-eight states and Eight union territories. As of 2011, with an estimated population of 1.210 billion, India is the world's second most populated country after the People's Republic of China. This list contains Chinese provinces in order of their total resident populations. Autonomous regions, direct-controlled municipalities and special administrative regions are not included.
