In this weeks review, we look at a new Microbrand, the Mitch Mason Chronicle. Based on watches of WWII this watch has some great design elements, the attention to detail is really impressive. The overall starting price of $379 offers a well designed and good value field watch with a very unique look

Best (pre) review of the Chronicle yet ! I love the case, dial, numerals (01), lume, crown, strap and of course the hands ! A field watch with it’s own identity. I’m definitely getting one. Great video for a great watch.

Love that they chose a 20mm lug width. 18mm straps look dainty in my opinion. And as always, your review style and thought process are impeccable.

This is such a cool watch...too bad it is too small for my big wrist (L2L) . Fantastic review - thank you Sam.

Looks fantastic IMO. Hope to see one around in the UK before it goes live but may have to pull the trigger anyway.

That’s actually a very nice design. The case has a very solid look. The brushed dial is nice. They were smart not to have a date.
Would not be something I’m interested in. I just recently got a Ball Engineer M Marvelite, it had scratches on the movement, the replacement is on its way.

Hmmmm, there is a lot to love about the dial and handset. I compare all of these to the Hamilton Khaki field watch. This is a strong contender with its unique finishes. The Hammy still has the better movement imo.

Hi, always nice reviews, and I like your kind way of thinking! Interesting project - the watch case: total Tanaka-style, if you check the Grand Seikos of the late 60's and 70's, you'll see exactly this shaping, brushing & dimensions; e.g. Seiko Catalog 1969 No. 2, Grand Seiko 61xx, page 3 *smile* So they're inspired by on of the most iconic design principles out there, this 'grammar of design' had so much influence on designing in that era, til today... nice to see them sweet cases comin back, Cheers!

Great review. I really like the case, the handset on the black version, the black bushed dial, the lume color, 20mm lugs, the crown (tho I'd like it a tiny bit larger and with more aggressive knurling). The hands are what first captured my interest. So glad the black does not have a brightly colored second hand. I notice that the gray and sand dials do not have the MM logo. I think that is a cleaner and more successful design. On the blue and black dials the addition of the logo overcrowds the area below the 12. I feel that if they must have all that text they need give the 12 a little breathing space and lower that whole block of type a little. I'd also like to see a date at 6 with a white numerals on black date wheel.

Spot on with the hands explanation. If you like them the rest of the watch should fall in favor. I am still questioning if I like the hands or not. :P Thanks for the review!

I’ve only watched a few of your reviews, yet I thoroughly enjoyed your discussion of the features of this Mitch Mason Field Watch. I think it’s a beautiful watch paired with an attractive leather strap. My only question is whether or not potential buyers will find the 36.5 MM diameter too small. I for one, would be interested in seeing a short video about 6 months after the start of the kickstarter campaign to see how successful the watch has been. Again, very nice job on your part in putting together this video. Keep up the good work!...Ed

Hi Sam hope you are well my friend, like you I’ve come out of the watch collecting rabbit hole and take more interest in lesser brands. I think this watch is one I would have I love the hands and think the dial is similar to Omega Railmaster .I won’t order thou till I see the finished article.

I think I like this watch. The size, style, and design all look good to me. Not sure I care for the faux patina lume and not because I don't like faux patina, because I do on a lot of watch models. It's just that I would like to see this watch with a normal bright white lume as a comparison. I think I want to compare this Mason to a different type of styled Oyster Perpetual and I need the white lume to help me out here. Anyway, I'll be looking closely at this watch when it gets close to kickstarter time.
