These games feel like “rodeo chess”. Your opponent is bigger, faster and stronger than you, and you’re holding on for dear life and hoping the moment ends before you lose.

The leela coverage has been so fun and entertaining and I think over the years your coverage of all the possibilities and explaining why positions are so great or so bad or pointing out the deciding moments that shift the tides of a game for either player has become much more clear and efficient and indepth.

Today was the day I beat my dad at chess.

It was a rewarding but somewhat sad experience to see that I had beat him. Shows the length of my life and how far I have come (not just in chess of course).

Thanks to you GothamChess.

Starting a game without a knight for Leela is a good way to start a night 😂

lol. The most disturbing part is that Fabi didn't lose because of tilt, desperation or 1 move blunder. And he didn't underestimate the bot. He was just outplayed.

Tonite Nepo played four blitz games with LeelaKnightOdds, losing all four. He is the fourth player of the top 12 on the FIDE blitz rating list to play several games with Leela at knight odds without winning any (alongside Caruana, MVL, and Dubov). Perhaps Levy can persuade Hikaru to take up the challenge; only he, Magnus, and Firouzja are rated above Nepo on Fide blitz.

The problem with fabi here is that he gives up constantly without just playing it out and seeing what happens and learning from it.

That second games was like if Leela was being pinned down with Fabi holding a knife. They're both just arm wrestling, Leela is trying to hold Fabi back and stay alive, with the tip of the knife just right in front of her eye. But then out of nowhere Fabi's grip loosens just the tiniest bit, and then the knife ends up in HIS eye because that is all Leela needed.

There is something about Fabi's early resignation in the third game shown here that just sent a shiver through my spine from top to bottom. It says something about the future of humanity.
AI never gets tired, never gets dispirited, never varies... humans do all of those things...
I've never felt so uncomfortable watching a chess video.

The early game, anyone with opening knowledge can survive it. Mid game, the greatest GMs with a lot of time can get through it with somewhat equal eval. End game, it doesn't matter how many years you spend thinking of the moves, the engine will crush you. It's just a matter of time, it will shuffle until you make a suboptimal move and the game is over from there.

Imagine how Leela must have been stressed the whole time. She played a 1000 points lower rated player being at -3 to -5 evaluation throughout most of the games, only in the final moves getting to an equal or better position.

Levy I think it would be nice to see the time in games like this, so we can better understand the pressure on the players
