I really hope you see this... I can not stop crying...

Your message to your parents could not have come at a better time for me. I know you don't have kids nor are planning for any in the near future but one thing you could do for us parents out there is enlighten us on how you were raised. My parents love me unconditionally for sure... but they also taught me fear and lack mindset. I've spend my 15 years of adulthood trying to overcome this so that I can do better for my children. I now have my first born who is 2 and 3 amazing step children who I have full custody of. I go back and forth as most parents do on what's right and what's wrong and it's just so much and so overwhelming all the time. BUT you are an example of a "successful child" as in... you're happy and you're taken care of. That's all we want for our children. We want them to be strong and happy. I didn't grow up around adults like that so it's hard to disipher sometimes, what's my upbringing and what's better. Any time you've ever mentioned what your parents did to help you I soak it up like a sponge. I can remember every single time and I do use it as a gauge. Not my only gauge haha but it is a big one for me. I'm also reading hunt, gather, parent and it has been extremely eye opening. However, it explored ancient parenting from tribal communities. I'm curious how developed/industrialized countries create happy and strong children.
