In this video, I discussed the solution to the given situation:

A doubly reinforced beam section has an effective depth of 700 mm and a width of 390 mm. It is reinforced with compression bars at the top having an area of 1700 mm² and 5220 mm² tension bars at the bottom with steel covering of 70 mm both on top and bottom bars. fc' =27 MPa and fy = 415 MPa.
a. Compute the depth of the compression block.
b. Compute the design moment capacity of the beam.
c. Compute the safe concentrated live load that the beam could carry at its midspan if it has a service dead load of 30 kN/m on a simple span of 6 meters.

Ask ko lang po db po ichecheck muna po kung yung compression bars are needed or not. Ang lumabas po kc p<pmax so yung compression bars po nia are not needed. So that treat as a singly reinforced beam po cia. Ask ko lng po salamat!
