My name is Abby, I am 14 and a weather/ climatologist enthusiast, I found this so useful and I shared the video with my friends who are also into atmospheric events and weather. Flashback to nearly 3 years ago: I was sitting on my sofa in the music room learning guitar when I pulled open the weather channel and saw pineapple express. I asked my dad, what is that he said an atmospheric river, I asked what is that, he said to turn on the tv this was in January 2017, so we turnwed it on and I realized this might be bad, later that night our power went out and our street flooded, we got something like 5 inches, ever since that Ive been fascinated with them, so Im doing research on them for fun and taking notes/ looking at videos and news stories in the past. In February 2019 they made a scale and I remember hearing about that and learning about that and how they had developed that this year, so Im learning more on atmospheric rivers

A wonderful talk that raises numerous necessary concerns and which is heartening due to the options that are available and/or being worked on. 🌻

Excellent presentation!

4/2023 - Huge snowpack in the Rockies as well.

Did the ARs contribute? The West map showed only a 10% tops chance to affect Wasatch Front.

Exceeded 200% snowpack.

Would love to see data and resulting reservoir and snowpack diagrams for our 2023 winter season!

Excellent! I just moved to Eugene and got hit with an atmospheric river Winter Storm Ryan this February 2019. Unbelievable! But nobody here was expecting it at all. Now I'm giving them the respect they deserve.

Excellent talk. I just wonder why you need to use an expensive jet aircraft to drop radiosondes when an Otter will do the job for much less.
