When my lettuce bolts I do the same thing, harvest the seeds, and use it for next seasons crop. Nothing is really a waste of time with gardening. Whether I eat from my garden, or get good compost material, or seeds.

I did this from store-bought green onions that were kept and replanted. They flowered and hit pollinated and then I chopped off the seed heads and set them to dry more in my air drying herb netting and now I have lots of seeds! Kinda fun. 👍🏻

I did this this year for my blooming leeks. Btw the flowers were so pretty that I will also grow them as ornamental plants in the future 😅

Just wondering if you have lots of bees? Not seeing very many and I have a lot of pollination plants.😕 I did have a ton last fall.
