for the people that don’t know yes if you buy a new modem you have to give your internet provider the mac ID for your new modem so they can activate it on your account. that’s the only way you can even use it

I see an issue at the cable splitter. Modem is running off -7db loss instead of the -3.5db leg of the splitter. I'd recommend picking up a Antronix 2 way splitter to replace 3 way you're using since one output isn't being used. Don't want open outputs on the splitters like that.

I have Xfinity and upgraded to this modem. It worked nice for about a week. Then I started to get lag and disconnections. Got tired of resetting and powering down and up. Called Comcast, but because they are not fleecing you with a rental fee, all they can do is verify that the service is up and running.

So I decided to return it back to Amazon, and got the Motorola MB8600. Much more user intuitive interface, better support, cheaper, and has been flawless going on 7 months now. Not a single hiccup. Oh did I mention it is lightning fast?

I don't know why YouTube is so obsessed with the Netgear.
