Sonny Curtis - Love Is All Around (1970 Ovation 45)

From the Ovation promo 45, released in 1970. Sonny re-recorded this in a more country style in 1980. This is the more "pop" oriented version that he recorded when the Mary Tyler Moore show premiered.

I once had the Sonny Curtis album in the 1980s. Met him backstage at a late 1980s Ronnie Milsap concert, Crickets reunion opened for Milsap. Knew he'd also co-wrote "I Fought the Law" . Great meeting him as well as Jerry and Joe from the original Crickets. All were classy, down to earth fellas.

I had a huge crush on Mary Tyler Moore as a young boy of 10 years of age. She was a beautiful actress and as a person. This song touches my heart and I see her face every time I hear it. The "Who can turn the world on with her smile" verse was added in the second season, with the phrase "You might just" replaced with "you're gonna..." The producers obviously felt, after the first season, that Mary had, more or less "made it", so Sonny was notified to modify the lyrics to reflect this.
