i love this animation a lot but this song is actually based of a true story about a music producer named phil spector, and a girl from a rock band of the 60’s, ronnie spector. i won’t go into the full story, but basically phil and ronnie got married, he forced her to stop music since he retired, and turned their home into a prison that ronnie was trapped in. they adopted 3 kids, two of them being a set of twins given to ronnie by phil for christmas one year to “save” their failing marriage. that’s where the song title “christmas kids” comes from. there’s lots of videos that go into this topic in depth in you would like to watch them,
