Man that 2010 game 7 in the finals is literally the most physical basketball game I’ve ever watched in my life

That 2-3-2 format in the finals definitely was wild. It gave the road team momentum at times.

That game 7 was the most physical, defensive game I've ever seen and the refs let the players play.
Kobe had a broken index finger on his shooting hand, you could tell he was exhausted by how poorly he shot but he was also getting double and triple teamed anytime he moved past the top of the key with the ball. He didn't relent on offense, as in he didn't stop trying open shots at the end, but he knew he had to transition to impactful defense if he wanted an opportunity to get those shots down the stretch. He was a hound on defense and got insane rebounds.

Kobe's team carried their weight, they picked up the pieces he dropped while being pinned by the Celtics that game, and some people criticize his game 7 performance because of that. But to me, Kobe proved his prowess and insane basketball IQ by still being a demon on defense while getting what he could on offense. Kobe wasted no opportunities, few as they were, that game and it earned him chip 5.

Also my favorite accomplishment of Kobe’s. I just really miss 2009-2010 as well so I’m sure that plays a part of it.

I was lucky enough to find a dvd box set of that entire series, game 1-7 in it’s entirety with all interviews and no commercials.

I have chest pain still. Lol

That 2010 series had so much on the line. Everybody knew that Kobe’s first ring without Shaq was thanks to KG’s injury and the Celtics losing to Orlando. Orlando upset a 66-win Cavs team that wasn’t that good in reality but had prime LBJ. A lot of people felt like Boston would’ve beaten LA for a second straight year in ‘09. So when LA and Boston matched up again, that was what everyone wanted to see. Can Kobe not only win without Shaq, but beat a team as great as the Celtics big 3 (technically by 2010 they were the big 4 cause Rondo was starting to play at a high level).

I'm sorry I might be low by cuz I'm a Laker fan but y'all really underestimated Kobe 20 years this man gave to the game he didn't cheated he didn't Short change it gave it all he had and holidays list of greats y'all clearly got him on the list way too low he should be much higher then where you have him there would never ever be another Kobe Bryant gone far too soon not to mention his daughter Gigi I'm guessing for greatness but you'd learn for greatness we missed out greatness to happen rip Kobe Bryant everyone on that fatal flight

What people didn’t realize was Kobe and Pau played with a bunch of players that nobody wanted and they career basically ended after that 2010 Championship run.

Sasha, Brown, Walton, Farmar, Odom wasn’t amount to anything in the league after 2011

Bynum, Artest and Fisher had a couple solid season but that’s it.

Pau never reached the Finals again after he left the Lakers

As a Celtics fan, the 2010 finals is one of my least favourite moments lol. I still stand that if KG didn’t get hurt in 09 and Perkins didn’t get hurt in the 2010 finals, the Celtics would have won. The Lakers also got 21 FTAs in the 4th in game 7 and the Celtics had 17 FTAs the entire game

“It was myself, Pau, and players that other teams didn’t want”
That’s why I love the 2008-2010 Lakers. Kobe was leading a team that consisted of a bunch of misfits and underachievers. Even Pau Gasol because he never won a playoff game in Memphis and they also had a losing record when he got traded to LA. LeBron James and the Cavaliers at this time were very similar when looking at their team but it was Kobe who ended up leading his team to the Finals 3 straight times and winning back 2 back while LeBron cut and ran to Miami.

No Kobe, that's not being shallow! As a Laker you're supposed to throw dirt on the Celtics EVERY CHANCE YOU GET!!! Well said!!! R.I.P. Champ.

As a Celtics fan this series crushed me. But props to Kobe and the Lakers, hell of a team and a great group of competitors.

Lakers and Celtics in the finals is one of the biggest rivalries in all of sports, that in itself is another reason to wanna beat each other.
