I go over my very very easy spider exercise for beginners to start getting dexterity into their fingers. This exercises focus on building relaxation, comfort and flexibility in the first, second and third fingers. We will leave working the pinky for the next video in out series. Practicing this exercise can actually help you improve the speed of your chord changes.

In ALL of other videos the instructor think people are more advanced than they are. They assume watchers can use your fret hand like they can. They ALWAYS use their pinky when doing the spider walk. It much easier to do it with 3 fingers. Thanks for taking baby steps wit us. You have a lot of patience with us. Thank you for make it easier for me!

I am so grateful I found you. You’ve made learning fun. I mentioned in other comments I’m a 62 year old semi beginner. You rock and you are an amazing teacher. A true gift. Merry Christmas, Teach!

This exercise made a huge difference for me! After just a little while realized I wasn't looking at my picking hand. And my fretting hand was going exactly where I wanted it to. Awesome lesson as always. Thanks so much! 🎸🤘

If you arent feeling a certain agony when doing these you arent doing it right. Add little finger for maximum agony

honestly this is genuinely the most useful and best channel I've come across so far when teaching guitar hand exercises, it's so easy to follow and understand 😊unlike the others which are always so complicated and has so many steps

Another thank you, Lauren. I also wanted to point out that I noticed that you keep the pinky of your picking hand anchored against the body of the guitar. That also seems like something that's helpful. I noticed that I was using my upper arm on top of the guitar body as my anchor, which meant that my pick was too far from the sound hole. Your videos are awesome!

Great stuff there Lauren, this is exactly how I teach fingerstyle, but you have a huge advantage with your on screen visual aids, which is simple but effective.
Well done lady.

Thanks so much for this! I’ve been struggling playing four finger chords and this is just what I needed to help my finger dexterity

Such a unique exercise! I’m definitely incorporating this into my daily practice. I think I also need to learn not to lift my fingers off the fret board so much when I apply the next finger and I feel this exercise will really help with that. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge Lauren!

If theres one thing ive learned with this exercise its that my ring finger all of a sudden develops a fear of changing strings (If you're trying to keep your fingers pressed against the fretboard that is)
