Breaks my heart when I hear one of these older planes going down! I went out to visit a B-17 but I couldn't afford to take a flight with it. A year later one went down with all the passengers on board! Rip to all who fly in the sky!

Deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones.
I don’t think many people realize what Herculean effort it is to keep these planes flying.

I occasionally co-piloted a Beech model 18 for FedEx flying nightly from Adam's Field in Little Rock to Memphis in the 70's. My "in" was a friendship with Fred Hook, a WW2 China ace who was the stepfather of Freddy Smith, the founder of FedEx. I'll never forget watching the exhaust ring color change from yellow to blue as we leaned out those 450hp P&W Wasp jr! The model 18s were replace mostly by Cessna Caravans. I chatted with a FedEx Caravan pilots unloading at Bishop airport when my son and I flew my recently purchased 1951 Bellanca 14-19 Cruisemaster from Portland in 2006. Unlike in my day, he had to load and unload his own plane! That sucked! Back in the 70's we'd just crash in big Lazy Boy recliners in the FedEx pilot lounge! Well, maybe "crash" isn't the right word here! lol Once I stayed in the guest house in Smith's Memphis mansion.

The Chino airport is an amazing place. I visited the Planes of Fame Air "Museum" and it is amazing beyond words. It's not really a all the planes are still flyable. They still fly them all. junk yard is more amazing than many air museums. There are historic wrecks laying around the yard.

The NTSB better hurry up before Dan Gryder arrives and steals parts of the wreckage.

I paid a couple visits to Planes of Fame next door to Yanks just last week. These live history museums really deserve our support.

So sad. A loss of these two lives. They were dedicated to preserving old aircraft that would have been scrapped. They put a lot of heart and hard working into their preservations. RIP to all of those that keep 'em flying and restoring these aircraft for future generations.

This is sad. I was there at the event. I was there taking pictures and video when the plane was turning it’s engines on before it taxied to the runway before taking off. Really sad.
