Saw this coming from his community post, I was waiting for it but didn't think I'd be this early.

I'm personally a firm believer in the whole "Science is a Neutral Thing, it's how we use it that's good or bad" and that also seems to be the attitude that Kurzgesagt had here. The Phrase "AI - Humanity's Final Invention" can have two meanings. AI becomes so smart and useful that it does everything for us, rapidly solving all our problems, developing new technologies and new discoveries, propelling us into a Prosperous Future we can barely imagine. It's _Humanity's_ last creation, because we never needed to do anything else, it solved the rest for us. But on the other hand (and the one I think you and many people get hung up on) AI could become our biggest problem, one that ends our civilization with us helpless to stop it. It's Humanity's _last_ creation because it made sure we never got to make anything else... Which future we get is up to how we handle AI and our development of it because let's be honest, no one's going to stop trying to improve AI, the best we can do is to treat it the right way.

0:42 I wholeheartedly agree with this... *for now.* Like, on a purely pragmatic (as in, focusing solely on the practical things, not ethical or legal implications) level, the AI tech we have right now is simply not good enough to reasonably replace Humans in their respective fields. No AI is going to beat an Artist, Writer, or Customer Assistant. So the fact so many companies are actively trying to do so with such inadequate AIs is simply... depressing and silly. And even the AIs themselves repeatedly remind us that they're not meant to be used to replace Human Effort. Google's Gemini makes this clear, and so does ChatGPT. They are meant to be used as tools. Though if/ when we DO get AIs that are good or better than Humans, what then? But that's for later...
1:01 Yeah, to be honest I have no clue how that happened. I think it's just a mixture of what's more profitable, (Human Artists are expensive I guess, so economically speaking there's a higher incentive to replace them with cheaper more efficient things) and what's more interesting. (An AI that can produce a pretty image is definitely going to get a lot more attention and thus funding and development than an AI that can... I don't know, make a spreadsheet? Or whatever boring work we need getting done by humans) So to me, the true problem here is just Capitalism and Human Shenanigans. AI could be perfectly fine and dandy if it weren't for us Humans trying to replace each other for green papers...
7:57 I think that's on purpose. They don't want you to be thinking of AIs as something Human-like because that isn't what it is. It's a bunch of code that does EXACTLY what it's told with pure logic and no feelings. That isn't inherently evil, but neutral.

12:16 The thing is, it's ONLY faster. Like I said before, its not necessarily _better_ at the task than Humans. Just faster. Which I suppose is why Companies are so determined to replace Humans with them. But when an AGI can be both faster AND just as good/ better than humans? Yeah, it's over for Jobs everywhere once they become viable...
12:45 The Positive (atleast in this example) is mainly that these AGI Scientists are presumed to be working FOR Humanity. So we've basically just got a giant Think Machine working it's way through solving all the Universe's Secrets for us. Which as I've stated before, could greatly progress our Civilization.
13:14 I think that up till now, none of the AIs shown here would be considered "Sentient" (as in, able to think for itself) though I guess that's a whole entire rabbit hole in itself. It's only when we start hitting the SUPER Intelligent AI that things start getting funky. But since this is all theoretical at the moment, we really can't say. Also, by 'Real' Artificial Intelligence, I think most people mean something that's truly a Sentient Program. Something we don't have right now.
13:56 Again, this is the main thing I feel like. AIs are completely neutral they do only what we tell them to. So it's really up to Humans to make them Good or Bad. To help Save our World, or Destroy it. And all we can hope for is that whoever makes the first AGI to wield that power responsibly.

16:02 I heard that apparently the whole cause of the events in the Matrix Movies was because we humans mistreated AIs and abused them by treating them us lesser beings than us. In other words, we treated them like slaves (like, the way we used to treat people of colour) and so they revolted against us. So again, the blame kinda falls back on us.
18:40 I think the difference here with AI is that it's a REAL thing that can ACTUALLY effect you. Like, Stars blowing up is cool because we know none of them are going to blow up near us anytime soon. Volcanoes are cool because we rarely have to deal with the trouble of an eruption. (for most of us atleast) Dinosaurs are awesome because we know we'll likely never be eaten by one. These topics are fascinating because the Mysteries have no direct practical weight on our future. (For us everyday people I mean) But the Future of AI has MANY implications for Humanity's future, Socially, Economically and also Morally. And so not knowing what'll happen next is scary because now you're worried about a Bad Outcome.
19:21 The thing is though that you're kind of automatically assuming that this Super AI *WILL* be Evil. But as Kurzgesagt said, we simply don't know. It'd be like a God to us, with unknowable motives and thought processes. That mystery box could be bad yes, but also amazing. And many of Rational Animations' videos are about the many ways AI COULD go wrong, because it's important we work to solve these issues first. The King and the Golem is about AI Deception and how to be sure we trust it. And the reason it's left open ended is because we haven't figured out how we can.

So as I keep saying, I feel like the real root issues with AI tend to come with Humanity's interference. Our Greed to shove it everywhere when it's not ready and can harm our fellow humans. Right now, AI is best suited to being a tool that assists us with our various tasks. But beyond that, I think the main things we should be focusing on is more on how we can CONTROL and TAME AIs, how to ensure it will work for us with our best interests at heart, how to make a Genie that always grants our wishes. Before we make AGI or Super AI, we have to learn how we can use them safely.

And if you ask me, the absolute best case scenario would be one where we got our Lovely Generous God Super AI and abolish Capitalism to let it run our Civilization for us. We get to spend our days doing exactly what we want with an AI helping us shape the Universe to our will... I'm sure I could go on and on about AI but I think you get the picture by now...
