not too many bands could ever equal the energy that THE WHO generated on stage. moon was literally insane.

Funny, this is 50 years ago, and the 'old rock and roll number' they are doing here is less than 10 years old at the time.

"Perfect Storm" in R&R band. Best drummer ever, best guitarist, best bassist, and best vocalist.

This was the gig where The Who were on before Hendrix as a 'double headliner' but Hendrix won the closing spot on the toss of a coin. Townshend was incensed, hence the anger you see here. When they finished with My Generation, totally trashing the stage Townshend said to Hendrix waiting in the wings 'Follow That'.

Hendrix set his guitar on fire...

Their second ever live performance of it, knocked it out of the park! Man I love Roger and John’s harmoniesb

At this time the Who was largely unknown in America. What an introduction, then!(Àlthough some were already familiar with their 1965 tune "My Generation".) But this was the bands first USA visit.

The muppets "Animal" was patterned after Keith Moon, and when you see this you see why....an absolute tornado of a drummer...never another like this before or since...astonishing

I don't know why, but the sound Pete makes on his guitar at 1:56 just cracks me up. It's so random, but so good lol

What was that? At 3:03, Keith throws away his snare drum, & finishes the song w/o it. That's so cool. That's so Moon. That's the WHO.

Even banks of 100 watt Super Beatle Vox amplifiers could barely cut through Keith Moon's drums!
