Love
Downton Abbey, then you will love C.A MacRae's Gemini Complex, The Cabal: After
the final demise of the Cathars at Chateau Mount Montségur in the south of
France in 1244, a heroic rescue by a Knights Templar took place. Six hundred
and fifty-three years later a murder and spate of suspicious deaths of the
clergy become linked in the south of France. Flo’s first day (10th November
1918) at Chandringham doesn’t work out quite how she imagined. A bright but
humble farm girl finds herself thrust into the upper echelons of society.
Rather than being trained in the everyday tasks of a maid, she’s told she needs
to leave her old life behind and immerse herself in the life of the
aristocracy, as Lady Mary Tavistock. Her world is turned upside down, Flo
realises she’s not the person she’s always thought she was and to make matters
worse she finds out her life is endangered. In order to make sense of who she
really is and what her purpose in life is, she’s sent to Switzerland to meet
others of her kind. the first book of a trilogy. It's going to be released
later this year.

Noted the greater speed of speech overall in the Movie. Suppose it was just time and money, but much preferred the slower paced and thoughtful flow of the series speech

I am not British so I had a question, is lady Mary’s accent from a specific area, I mean is there currently an area in Britain where we speak like that, because I really love hier accent, or is it just an old accent that nobody uses anymore, or is it just specific to Michelle Dockery ?

The reason why they had to all see an accent coach to play northerners even though they're northern is because they all speak with received pronunciation. Generally people who speak with an RP accent are from middle class families or have had elocution lessons... So basically servants in the 1920s it would not make sense for them to have such an accent

Her American accent does go a bit strange at times like a cross between your stereotypical Boston accent mixed with your average British accent.

The middle-aged gentleman may well be from the North but he only has the slightest of accents. His is more middle-classed.
