Theme of Violet Evergarden (Re-Orchestration / Musical Tribute to KyoAni)
Показать описание
I tried recreating "Theme of Violet Evergarden" from scratch as a tribute to KyoAni. It is a soundtrack and main theme of Violet Evergarden composed by Evan Call as part of Automemories OST album.
---------------------------------------------------
This is a remaster / remake of a video which was originally uploaded on June 3rd 2018, dedicated as a tribute to Kyoto Animation. Not just because of the arson attack, but because since way before that, it's already been my number one animation studio period. They're one of the very few animation studio which shows that the staff love what they do, and it really shows through the animations. The workers there absolutely didn't deserve such horrific incident.
It's only fitting that I feature the music of one of their best works to date: Violet Evergarden. And not just any music, it is THE theme of Violet Evergarden.
---------------------------------------------------
My own way of appreciating music is to break it down, study every bit of its pieces, and then try putting it back together to as close as I can to the original. It's the little details in music that are often times forgotten, that music is composed and arranged of many little pieces that sound in harmony. By trying to make music from scratch, we're able to realise things we didn't, and get the idea of just how complex the music is.
I recently marathoned the entirety of Violet Evergarden, and continued straight to the cinema to see Violet Evergarden Gaiden: Eien to Jidou Shuki Ningyou (in which case I nearly died of emotional attack) on February 4th 2020. I'll be honest with you, I was reminded the times I only watch sad and emotional anime such as Clannad, Angel Beats, Kanon, etc. It's exceedingly beautiful, emotional, and enticing. Oh, and Violet is way too beautiful, she should be made illegal!
I also added the most memorable and emotional scenes in the overlay for me. Episodes 7 and 10 are way too emotional.
---------------------------------------------------
This project consists of 202 audio & video tracks (up from 151 of the original), takes the crown as my most complex project to date by a long shot. All of the sounds you hear (except for the typewriter) were generated by Roland RD-800's sound engine and recorded directly into USB in 16-bit WAV format. None of the sounds from the original soundtrack is used. The audio files were than transported into the PC and imported into VEGAS. This project was built and assembled track by track, instrument by instrument, part by part.
There are 118 audio-specific tracks and 84 video tracks in this project. The original video took me 4 full days to work on, and this remaster / remake took me another 7 days, with every single audio track effects having re-adjusted and most of the sounds replaced or added.
What I'm showing you in the video is merely 10% of the whole story. Most of the sounds are actually the ones you don't notice, but leaves a huge impact if taken out.
