in December 2022, the consulate in Toronto Canada minimum is $4, 000 CDN per Month over the past 6 months for Temporary Residency or a balance of $56, 000 CDN over the last 12 months

Anyone thinking about applying for temporary residency should seriously consider applying now if they qualify, whether or not they plan on moving to Mexico soon. If most consulates still continue using MW (Daily minimum wage) the increase in Jan. 2023, given this years inflation, will be huge. Last year the MW increased 22% with 5.69% inflation in Mexico. The MW in 2016 was $73.04 mxn and with an average exchange rate of 18.69 mxn to 1 usd and it only took $1172 usd to qualify. In 2023, even if the MW is only increased 16% (likely higher) from 2022, it will take over $3000 usd to qualify.

One thing I just learned from a southern CA consulate re: permanent residency visa requirements. By phone they let me know that even if I'm showing proof of solvency with savings/investments statements, I still also need to show that I am retired by showing social security benefit letters. Hope this helps!

When I applied for residency at my local Consulate (Oxnard, CA) they required the applicant to be a resident of that County thereby limiting "Consulate shopping" applicants.

Paul, I have been attemting to get an appoinment at San Bernardino for a full month now. Different peeople tell you different info about Temp Residency. All of the rqirements are easy but an appointment is not! Some say you must go in person, others say you can get an appointment via phone. Some require zip codes to go any further. Any suggestions? I live in So. Cal.

FYI I contacted the McAllen Consulate about "Permanent Visa". The amounts on website are out of date. I was sent an email with the amount of $4, 327. month for past 6 months. Savings is $172, 870. for past 12 months. Hope that helps.
