Why Particle Physics Matters

We only have to look at the past to have an understanding of why research is important. We have gone from a mechanical age to an electromagnetic age in a relatively short time. We are researching and developing in a nuclear age. We are also learning about a quantum age. The payoffs going from one age to the next are beyond measure. We must do the research needed to move to the next age. This will bring far higher quality of life and reduce suffering. What will 2113 be like without this research?

I think they missed the most important detail. All the "spin off's" aside, the energy of the future will come from fusion. In other words, particle physics is the next fuel of humanity.

My comment may fall on deaf ears but, detector opportunities exist for PP's now. A detector is needed for corium and it's progression. Maybe a start with neutrino detection coming from earth's interior. Any other ideas? enenews will explain why

No he means nuclear reactors here on Earth. Currently we use fission in nuclear reactors but it's not as efficient as fusion.

By "fusion" you mean solar, right? We have the biggest fusion reactor we could ever ask for already built.
