Having to logically justify everything we do to ourselves, yep that’s definitely a big one that I hadn’t thought about before

After a half-lifetime of careful and extensive study (psychology is a SPIN of mine, as it is with many autistics), I have come to the conclusion that neurotypicals enjoy being able to play sophisticated games with words, because they can at least hold their own if not “win” at these interactions. They are essentially taking advantage of and bullying those who can’t “play the game correctly”, whether due to innate disability or trauma, and they are rewarded with money and power, which aren’t exactly the same thing, but close. They then strongly object to this truth with logical fallacies like “This is just how it’s always been for everyone everywhere!”, “None of this can be changed!”, or “You’re being too sensitive/melodramatic!”. These statements sound much like stereotypical sentiments from the bullies in close personal relationships, reinforcing that modern civilization is based on bullying the vulnerable who can’t play social games of deception and manipulation very well, and this includes autistics. Of course, those “getting ahead” by playing these games don’t like to hear that… 🤷‍♀️
