GoPro 10 Hydrophobic Lens Does it Really work ? [Water Test]

GoPro 10 comes with a NEW Hydrophobic lens that mainly protects your camera lens from dirt and scratches but with Hero 10 black this lens cover has a special coating on the surface that repels water more efficiently than previous GoPro cameras.
So in this video I am going to do 3 water tests if the new protective lens really helps get rid of these water drops and since its also compatible with GoPro Hero 9 Black perhaps this is something for you

So it seems the new Protective lens really does the job ! Especially when it cimes to small drops of water but what do you think ???

I really appreciate this comparative test. for the simple reason that I own both the Hero 9 and Hero 10. Clearly the H10 outperforms the H9 in inclement weather. Thank you for sharing this

Nice test. How would just treating the normal lens with something like Rain X (like your car windshield) go to achieve similar water beading effects?

Oh - this is EXACTLY the video I needed. Thank you for making it!!! I only really use GoPros in wet situations (especially when I go kayaking / snorkelling) and it's always been the killer of most of my footage. Nothing else ever worked (all those Rainx, licking the lens, etc), so I'd constantly have to remember to wipe with a clean cloth (not possible most of the time) or just keep flicking the GoPro to try to get water off (also not possible most of the time). Question: Has the hydrophobic lens coating lasted? If it has worn off, can a replacement lens be purchased?

I have this and it is soo great, but wonder about technology behind, is it available for gopro only, or for system camera optics, canon sony etc? nanotech or something new?

Water will tend to shed from the HERO10 glass with a little air flow, while it will still stick to the HERO9 glass.
The coating is also anti-reflective and anti-scratch (more so than the bare Gorilla Glass).

Great testing man! I have the hero 9 and damn it's frustrating, any little droplet sticks to it like crazy! time to start licking the lens ;_; 🤣🤣

Can we take GoPro Hero 10 out in rain without waterproof housing ?

Salt water seems to react differently to the hydrophobic lens. I have to buy the hero 9 lens to prevent getting water spots from the 10 lens while surfing

Asking for advice: I have trouble with the regular lense that was on my hero 7 from the start and it unfortunately lets water through the little gap between the camera itsself and the lense. When it's hot the water inside the lense starts to evaporate and makes the footage completely blurry. It happens every time. Do you have some advice? Is it any good to simply buy a new lense (which is quite expensive for me) or could it be a damage on the camera? How do I fix it? Let me please know whether this happend to any of you too

I have a lot of problems with fog, in the scenes in and out of water, the change causes fog and ruins the footage

And where's the "lick the lens" test to prevent water droplets from forming? LOL... Thx for posting!
