So amazing. Love love love. Amazing how this beautiful song can be so haunting when put to Max Richter's, "On The Nature of Daylight." She is so dreamy here. I wish we still had singers like her.

This is the True original of this classic song. Recorded in true Stereo with Dinah's perfect voice coming from the Left speaker and the rest coming out of the Right speaker. This same technique was also used on the early Stereo releases of the Platters. With the later releases they were still labeled Stereo but were not the original Stereo. Mercury knew how to use the wonderful advantage of real Stereo but it didn't last long.

She will forever be Queen! The lyrics in this song are as true today as they were yesterday and will forever be tomorrow. So fitting that she RIP.

This bitter earth
Well, what a fruit it bears
What good is love
Mmh, that no one shares?
And if my life is like the dust
Ooh, that hides the glow of a rose
What good am I?
Heaven only knows

Oh, this bitter earth
Yes, can it be so cold?
Today you're young
Too soon you're old
But while a voice
Within me cries
I'm sure someone
May answer my call
And this bitter earth, ooh
May not, oh be so bitter after all

Great singer. I got acquainted with this song back in the 70s when watching the movie Killer of Sheep, produced and directed by Charles Burnett. I don't think there was ever a song that fit a movie like this one did. While it has a haunting sort of melody and lyrics, you simply can not forget it and wonder....wow!....we all go through tough times in life but.. "this bitter earth may not be so bitter, after all"! I believe Burnett, who is a gifted producer, made this film on less than $15, 000. On rate occasions, it is shown on the Turner CM network. I would recommend it (for adults)!

I’m glad I didn’t have to live through this era in time but Maga wants to bring back the 60s Jim Crow revival…scary times ahead what a time to be alive
