This is the story of the dabke dance.
In the old days they used to have mud homes and every year they had to put fresh mud on the roof and pack it by stumping on it.
Since this was a very difficult work then every time someone wanted to do his roof the neighborhood used get together and stump on the mud and help.
After a while they had a system of doing it and in time it became the dabke dance which means stumping the ground.
That is why in this dance you see them stump the ground with their feet.
