I do earn a small amount money from amazon affiliate links if purchases are made, but with NO extra cost to you. This does not create incentive to make videos like this. My goal is to make reliable, honest, plant content viewers can trust. -Chris

Most plant speculators have moved to pure anthuriums, flipping various variegated alocasia corms, and now seeing more Platycerium/staghorn ferns sellers.

The charge back thing is an absolute joke... Anyone with a credit card who makes a purchase can pretty much be 100% sure they will get their money back and win any cases fought because the credit company will side with them to keep the business. The amount of proof you need to refute it is ridiculous and still even with it, credit card companies can decide whatever they want.

My local nurseries have come down tremendously in price. I’m talking I kept comparing pots to make sure the prices weren’t incorrect. It has been so fun getting plants I live at reasonable prices.

This is so true! My local market is absolutely saturated. We have several independent people who import making for plant swaps where no one buys anything because everyone has everything (all the variegation) they could ever want.

Wow, the prices are great for collectors, but really bad for sellers. Thanks for sharing!

The prices of necessities are skyrocketing while some luxuries are coming down

These prices are still insane. I won't pay more than $25 for even a large plant. You can get similar looks by patiently growing various pothos cultivars up a backboard. The idea of spending a mortgage payment/rent on a single plant is utter insanity.

This is why I don't sell my plants. I just prop babies from my mama plant. It's too much to try and run a plant store in my opinion. But lots of babies have gone to new homes from me! :) Nothing like these but simply philos.

If nobody buys them, prices will drop really fast..this is outrageous.

do you think many plants will become rare again once sellers deem the whole thing to not be worth it anymore?

Ludicrously exorbitant prices! Prior to Covid prices were nothing like this. In Australia you’d pick up a huge pure Anthurium Clarinervium for $AU20. Covid saw these prices reach up to $AU2K, now they’re literally being given away, as they were prior to covid. I’ve been growing, collecting & swapping plants for over 35 years, hopefully prices will keep dropping as they have been doing in Australia for the previous year 🤞🏻

I know that these are comparably "low" prices. But man in low relative.
After getting my decent size albo for $120, I said I would never spend that much on a plant.
Strict $100 (shipping included) cap on my plant purchases.
I think anything over that doesn't make sense to spend on a plant (for me)

Thats just the market. Someone will come up with a variegated whatever and sell it for $30000 and then it will be propped and sold for exponential diminishing returns.

I think it's insane that I just payed 49.95 for a Thai con that looks VERY similar to the plant in the video. What a difference in 10 months.
