I use a 5211 for drum overheads. It's the perfect pre for the job. Anything I want clean and detailed. Silk is also a great tool for mixing. I use it for all backup vox and sometimes main vox if I want it to be super clean and delicate.

If I blindfolded you, you couldn’t tell the difference in an sm57, and a u87. I have both, plus a u47, and a u67. Same with guitars. Good luck.
