I'm not even 20 yet and the dating market still terrifies me.

Litterally everywhere I look there is some subliminal messaging telling me I'm in the prime of my life and that if I don't find someone now I never will. Whilst all my friends date and party and whatnot I feel like I'm constantly lagging behind.

At the same time, unhealthy relationships are glorifyed to no end. Every other TV show and movie is about some kind of relationship drama; I ended up deleting Tiktok because all it ever did was recommend me videos of people admitting to cheating on their partners.

I'm just confused, burnt out and scared and at this point I'm wondering whether I should bother putting myself out there at all.

Had my heart broken in my late 20s, didn't heal it properly during my 30s (yeah yeah, my own fault, shut up), and now at 45 I don't know WTF to do. It seems hopeless and I want to give up on dating and romance and all of that, but some stupid stubborn part of my mind refuses to let me. I feel so miserable when I consider going my own way, but the alternative is feeling miserable when I put in the effort

I did this in my twenties. Then I got married, stayed that way for 25 years and still going.. and found out some of my friends did the same, and some didn't. I am approaching 50. No way in hell do I want to be in the open dating market now. I'm good.

I'm 35 and my whole adult life I have tried dating a few times, and no matter how much I liked a woman every time it started well then turned to nothing but abuse and manipulation. The last time I was way in over my head, and in the end it almost cost me big time.

Yeah I’m screwed. Due to crazy life circumstances I only started dating at 26 and I’m nearly 30 now. This is not going well.
