I remember when i returned to clash royale about 4 months ago and looked at the amount of legendaries per deck in top ladder i thought i would quit soon.
but honestly, progression has become so much better with clan wars and season tickets and trade tokens and global tournaments and magical items that after grinding, you can actually get these stuff, much better than the beggining of the game :)
