This video covers one of the most effective methods for memorizing 8 of the most common polyatomic ions. I go over the "Nick the Baby Camel" mnemonic device which can be used to memorize the formulas for nitrate, bromate, carbonate, iodate, chlorate, chromate, sulfate and phosphate. Thanks to Maya Proulx for the artwork.

First! The mnemonic got me through honors and AP chem. I wouldn't have memorized half the polyatomic ions without it.

3:52 There's 2 vowels in the word Baby: "a" and "y". I guess the word Baby is an exception for Rule #3 ??

You know you look like a young, thin, Steve from "Sex in the City"? Thanks for the mnemonic!
