Taverna Epta Piges - Seven Springs in Rhodes, the 4th largest island of Greece. There are also waterfalls at this location and one big waterfall. The springs emit water, somehow, even in the hottest of summer months. 2021 was one of the hottest ever in Greece, with wildfires and record temperatures. On the island of Rhodes though, know for it’s ability to provide fresh water for the shipping industry, the springs continue to bubble up fresh water from the ground! It’s amazing and the water refreshing!

There are also a lot of wild peacocks walking around up by the stream and springs near the start. We even saw a peacock hatchling!

The seven springs or Epta Piges is for a sure a place to get away from the heat and feel the cool mist of the waterfall. I did not dare walk from the main spring area to the main waterfall via the huge, underground tunnel you see in the video. It must be about 400 meter long, very dark and very tight, although with a high ceiling. Maybe next time! The walk down to the waterfall is for able body people. That hike is not for the less able or those whom cannot walk well. To get around going through the tunnel, walk up the hill, cross the road and you then go left, following the river or river bed for about 200 meters to the top of the waterfall. Be careful, it’s high and rugged in places!

This all started in 1945 as a water mill for irrigation through the tunnels from the springs and lake, which we did not visit.
