Thinking of becoming a Wisconsin Conservation Warden? Here's an overview of the hiring process.

The conservation warden hiring process takes approximately eight months and generally begins in the spring each year, with conditional job offers going out in November.

To apply, a cover letter (letter of qualification) and resume is submitted to address the minimum and preferred qualifications listed in the job announcement. Applications must be submitted through Wisc.Jobs once the job is posted.

After the initial resume screening, top candidates go through multiple rounds of interviews. Wisconsin law requires that all law enforcement officers must be in excellent health and free from any physical condition which might adversely affect their performance. Candidates need to pass the pre-employment fitness standards in order to move on to the next phase – the background investigation.

Finally, candidates receive conditional job offers, but need to pass a medical and psychological examination before receiving an appointment letter.
