CBA15: A better way – how climate finance can meet the needs of the vulnerable in urban areas
Показать описание
This is a recording of a session from the 15th International Conference on Community-Based Adaptation to Climate Change (CBA15), which took place online from 14-18 June 2021.
This session focused on how local actors can be involved in climate finance delivery from start to finish for greater impact and quicker disbursement.
This session highlighted experiences from BRAC’s Climate Bridge Fund (CBF) and its implementing partners - local municipalities in Bangladesh.
It focused on how local actors/NGOs are meaningfully involved from start to finish, how long-term institutional capacity creates greater impact over time, and how allocation and disbursement (access) can be done quickly. The session presented practical experiences on urban resilience with support from the CBF.
In breakout groups, these examples were used to explore a key question - how can climate finance meet the needs of the most vulnerable, and what do organisations across the climate finance chain need to do?
Participants had the opportunity to delve into the practical insights from the CBF and explore how these can be applied in their own contexts.
This session related to the locally led adaptation principles - with relevance to local actors but also multilateral and bilateral funders interested in enhancing access and volume of climate finance at local level.
