UGREEN Nexode 140w GaN Charger Review

Not all power supplies are created equal.

Nexode PD3.1

Chargers/PSUs/powerbricks aren't the most exciting of topics but it's a common purchase there's better chargers than the ones Apple ships with its laptop. The UGREEN Nexode is a three port charger, that advertises the ability to power two laptops, but what about three?

Using a Kill-A-Watt charger, I put the Nexode to the test. Spoiler, it works well with a few minor caveats.

The Ugreen has 3 ports, two USBc and one USB-A. The bottom port has a max output of 140w and the middle USBc port has a max of 100w. Ugreen advertises it has automatic adjust power dispensing has thermal guard to prevent it from overheating. It also comes with a 240w compatible USBc cable that's rated for USB2.0 speeds.

Nexode PD3.1 - It's still alive in 2025 and below $70.

Update 10/6/23: I’ve taken this to Europe and subjected to to 240V and it’s still alive and kicking

Update: 03/14/24 It's been roughly a year and still around, it's become my daily charger for home now as I have a second 140w charger for travel by AOHI Gan which is a bit smaller which is also worth a look. Both have dropped to about $80, which makes these a much better buy. There's a lot of no-name GaN chargers for cheaper now although I'd prefer to plug in my $3k laptop into a brand I've heard of.

Update: 10/25/24 - Still alive and kicking. Safe to assume that it'll stay working. Last month though I moved to Anker 240w charger.

Great review. Lot of reviewers waste so much time in what it could be covered in 2 minutes max in terms of if it delivers what it advertises and etc, but the fact you took it to the paces to see how it handles it and tested if it got too warm or not (since that's my biggest concern reading some reviews online). Great job.

Thank you! GREAT review. Purchasing a high wattage USB-C multicharger is an expensive gamble and this type of content helps a lot in navigating the shopping jungle which has a ton of alternatives to choose from.

Great video, I plan to purchase this exact same charger, didn't think I'd find such a detailed video about it👍

With the 2023 Mac Pro being such a disappointment, I’m starting to migrate over to non-apple computers. I really like the framework laptops and I’m sure it’ll be my next and hopefully last machine. To prepare for the said laptop, I got this exact charger today, only to realize that you had a review of the product. I guess it means I made the right choice.

As for the USB A port being advertised as 22W, I believe it’s 22W for QC devices, which doesn’t include apple products. In those cases, apple products charge at 12W, which is what you got in your video.

Thanks for the review! Perhaps you could consider using a usb charging tester/meter to show the actual voltages and amps.

Will the 140w charger charge 2 Galaxy S23 Ultra both at Super Fast Charging 2.0 ?
Please suggest which charger will do that or better charge 2 phones at 65w each
Do we need 240w wire or 100w cable is good enough

I just got this today. I have three 100 W UGREEN Nexode chargers, as well. They have all been great, so I trust this one will be great, as well.

Great video, stumbled on it while looking for a goodportable charger. Didnt see the pinned comment though about how the charger is holding up. Any news after 7 months?

Did you manage to get 140W from the single 140W port to Macbook pro 16, using the Apple Magsafe cable and running Geekbench?

I have a lenovo legion 5 laptop. There is orginal lenovo product in the market that gaN charger and supplies 135w.
but I think about buying this 140w ugreen instead of it.
do you think I can charge my laptop only using one port and get 140w? because lenovo's charger has only one usb-c port but ugreen has more ports and looks more useful.

Hey, Would it be safe if I "accidentally" plug alone my 100 watts laptop on the 140 watts port ?

Will it work on a Nitro 5 2022 laptop ?? Will it give the full 100w to charge the laptop

The 22W is only with devices that specifically support it - Apple being one of the biggest standouts for *not* supporting >10W charging on their iPhones

Most Android phones will pull >10W from USB-A
