My dog's the opposite, he will always make sure _his_ cats are fed before he eats, and since they are social eaters he will stand guard.
He raised them from when they were kittens, and they are his boys.

Even with treats he will send them on ahead, but that might be because he knows that their plantive meows at the fridge will break me (he smiles and licks his lips when they put on their act).
