Japanese Sony SL-HF3000 Betamax Unboxing Video - June 12, 2014!!

At long last, I got one of my "dream" Betamaxes - the Japanese version of our SL-HF1000, the SL-HF3000 SuperBeta HiFi. Here is yours truly, unboxing and setting up this gorgeous Betamax!!! Be sure to watch in HD!

Never seen another Betamax VCR before. It is a rare find and it was a Japanese model. You don't see SL-HF3000 Japanese Betamax VCR's anymore, in the USA, they made the SL-HF1000. In the late 80's, Sony also made another one of those Japanese VCR's under VHS instead of Beta.

Man, that thing is awesome. Got ahold of an SL-HF300 recently, and it's definitely worth the $75 I paid because, despite the scratches on the case, it works great.

All I have is an Mitsubishi HS-U65 / HS-U51... Now I feel depressed.
Both are in great shape, but I had to replace the Drum assembly on the HS-U65,
but hey both were $20.00 @ Goodwill in Mentor at the time.
You've got a great machine there. WOW!

Do you view your Betas on your HDTV via composite video or RF? How good does it look compared to an older CRT?

Something that beautiful (I really miss the warm glow of the digital readout that these VCRs used to have...) must have cost a pretty penny...

I keep seeing 3000s pop up on this one-jp website, but they are nowhere near as nice as this one! I have actually been considering obtaining a Japanese Beta machine ever since I saw this video, and I was wondering if you had any suggestions as far as models, what comes with a model, and condition. A lot of them I see are being listed as "Junk" and that makes me a bit unsure about them. I've already had two disappointmens this year with Betamaxes. One Sony and a Sears (technically Sanyo), both had tapes stuck in them (Have you ever come across that problem before?)
