I’ve always felt like her whole music career is like she’s acting in a movie about a pop star, it’s not like being an actual pop star. I don’t know if that makes sense. But I’ve never felt like her heart was in it. It’s like when someone gets stuck in an office job and keeps getting promoted but never really cared, and that happened to her except as a pop star lol

Selena feels at home acting, I especially love her in Only Murders in the Building. She seems to have the most fun doing that show, too. Steve Martin and Martin Short are perfect to act opposite her, too. While I enjoy her music, I think her chemistry on the screen is where she thrives.

I’ve always preferred her as an actress. Though she’s made fun bops and videos, but she’s definitely an actress first and foremost with great comedic timing and charisma and I’m so glad she’s acting again! My favorites are “Tell Me Something I Don’t Know” and “Come and Get It” because they suit her voice and personality, but I also think one of her best is “Lose You to Love Me” because it’s her most raw and vulnerable.

It’s honestly so obvious she’s never been passionate about it but I do wonder why she dedicated so much time into that when she could’ve focused on acting, especially after her contract with Disney ended. I feel she shines so much more in acting and I feel she likes it better and it shows.

Let’s be honest, she’s never really been the IT girl when it come to the music.
A couple catchy tunes here and there but she literally has no impact in music culture. No shade but she won’t be missed much in the field.

I think that’s probably true. She was so big in Disney and had lots of hits there. It was something she probably felt like she needed to continue, and lots of pushback from fans as well. There also wasn’t at that time a lot of acting going on, so that was her main source of relevance and popularity.

If she wants to release at random when she feels inspired or has something to say then by all means. But I think her true passion and focus should be in acting if that is fulfilling to her. Only Murders and Emilia Perez seem to be a big breakthrough for her.

Regardless, she seems happy and doing what she enjoys and that’s the most important part.

Let me tell you if Love On or Single Soon had caught on, the album (which she was recording all last year, in the US and in Paris) would have been here by now. But she's obviously reading the room and does not want to risk underselling after the singles' underperformances.

I love Selena, I always loved her music too, but I appreciate her honesty. Her music has never had that real zing, that personal touch. Although I’ve always liked her music, I feel like it could’ve been sang by anyone. It’s not outwardly Selena.
