(Up-close alternate angle) Michael Bay Quits Samsung's CES Press Conference

Our own Roger Chang stood for hours in line to get a front-row seat at Samsung's CES 2014 press conference, where he captured this up-close footage of Michael Bay bailing on his speech. Eek.

Quick! Someone set off several massive explosions for no reason, and Michael Bay will reset to his factory settings.

He is just like any of us, some people don't like public speaking. He was probably pressured into it. There is a reason he is a director and producer, he loves entertainment, but doesn't like people seeing his face or giving speeches. Simple as that.

What would of been really bad is if the door didn't open when he walked off stage. Then we might have seen Bay snap and kill someone.

Genuinely feel sorry for the guy, he obviously wasn't comfortable with the teleprompter going down. But he was there to talk about the cinema experience of the UHD Curved TV and this kinda shows his disinterest in it. Well played to the Samsung (ceo?) Speaker!

Saddest part was he was asked to comment on what his job is... to which he couldn't even summarize.

That's so odd. Bay isn't a dummy. He frequently spews marketing lingo and hypes up products like a pro without a prompter in interviews. Maybe something happened before he went on stage that flustered him and the prompter being off just put it over the top?

It can happen to anyone, especially if they're not used to such gigs. As an introvert, I'm more comfortable in one-on-one convos and small groups. I generally put everything and anything I'm going to say into a script whether in note form or mentally to make things clear and concise.

So in a situation like Michael Bay was in, if I lost any notes or my script (teleprompter in his case) - I'd be exactly the same, mostly out of frustration. I feel sorry for the guy.

I’m surprised they couldn’t just riff about the TV for a few minutes, while chuckling about the teleprompter fail. I do feel for the guy; both of them actually. One was so embarrassed he walked out and the other had to follow up like nothing happened and stand there alone on the stage probably talking to himself about the TV features. I would really like to see this whole presentation, including the 5 minutes after Bay walked out.
