Remember one time my mom was driving me home and there was an accident so obviously there was traffic. Didn’t expect much till we passed it. Holy fuck. The entire car was off the road on the grass, upside down, and every inch of it was on fucking fire. That memory is burned (no pun intended) into my brain

I know it kills the joke but human nature is that when you see an accident on the other side of a freeway you subconsciously hit the brakes. Those few drivers instantly slowing down causes those following to brake and this causes a ripple affect going backwards and ultimately stand still traffic. It’s why when you pass the accident the traffic begins to move instantly. The myth that traffic on the opposite freeway slows to look at the accident is just not true. If it were true you’d have to go from 70 miles an hour to 5 miles an hour just to look at an accident, no one risks their life to do that. It’s human nature to react by braking and the subsequent traffic that causes is why you crawl past the accident and ultimately have a little look. Christ I’m dull.
