What is music but an opportunity to tell a story? I have a story and a good one.

Many moons ago I met an old college friend on the streets on Nairobi. As we talked and caught up he told me that he had gotten a job in a local bank and was less of an artist that he was when I first met him due to professional obligations. When I told him i was still into music he gave me his phone number so we could communicate. As a renowned Swahili poet it was clear that we could collaborate on lyrics and content - such a wonderful plan we had!

Then I turned to go and a short distance down the road I got mugged!! Boom! Nairoberry at its finest.

I never made that call. I've never met him again or found a mutual acquaintance who had his number. All these years later I often wonder how he is doing.

I'm sure we will one day meet again on these streets of Nairobi-Inshallah!
