I never knew such a device from Triang existed. What a great idea for a Shop Display or Exhibition Layout, which would appear truly magical. An idea for Hornby to introduce such a simple, yet effective product. Another excellent instructive presentation.

Easily one of your best videos Oscar, very clear show and tell of one of the more mysterious bits of the brilliant design team's work at Margate. I recall watching this set up in the local model shop when I was younger, finally got a couple of sets recently and am now inspired to go and experiment:-)

Again it just shows Triang were well ahead of their time adding a further dimension to model railway . Simple in concept but it worked .

Thanks again Oscar, enthusiastic as ever.all my basic knowledge of electricity(albeit 12v) came from messing about with this sort of thing on the railway. I do remember getting a couple of shocks-quite frightening as a 10 year old.

One of my friends had one of these sets for his Triang train set. I always found it interesting in operation. The trip switches which attached to the rails were obviously based on Lionel prototypes which were ( and not I’ll are available) to operate level crossing gates and signals. Marx also had similar trip switches, and they also sold a train set with the relay for 2 train operation. The Marx version was in a colour light signal which changed aspect with the operation of the relay. ( not sure Lionel offered anything similar)

I have two of these that were later released for system six track. I got them both on ebay, just a few months ago still brand new in their boxes, they were ex shop stock. I can't just think what I paid for them now, but they were less than £10 each.
