Amorim has consistently refused to stabilize his midfield. This singular act (stabilizing the midfield) has a positive ripple effect across the team. It allows your playmaker to focus on creating chances and scoring himself. Ugarte did an interview early this week and rightly said his job is to win back balls, maintain possession and stabilize the midfield; unfortunately for Ugarte, any serious title contender knows to stabilize the midfield you need more than one Ugarte (i mean 2 DMs). At some point this season (under Ruud), we had Casemiro and Ugarte playing that role, Bruno focused on creating chances and scoring goals, he had 4 goals in 4 matches.
My point is Bruno worries about defending cos he knows the midfield and defense are not reliable. People say ineos has instructed Amorim to freeze out Casemiro cos of his wages, i don't understand and I don't believe it. Ruud played him in 4 consecutive matches and nothing happened off the pitch, on the pitch we had impressive results.
