I’d love to see how powerful programs like Blender, ZBrush, or Unity are. It seems like their presentation made them endless. My Intel almost melted when running Unity some days.

Would love to see how M1 Max perform with 3D software, not only render but sometimes just playing complex animations on viewport my current Macbook Pro goes hot as a chilly

You can now buy a second hand M1 Air for $600-700, or the M1 Mini for $400-500 on second hand, just get 8GB RAM, minimal built-in SSD and use cheap external SSD/HDD, the render out speed differences good enough for most people, even professionals, no need to spend 8x more money on your $4100+ maxxed out M1 Max MacBook 😄😄 those prores rendering times are amazing, for sure. How else does 4K 10bit 4:2:2 video editing improve? And the $1999 M1 Pro MacBook can do more or less as good.. right?

Thanks for this. I’ve learned tech reviewers can be “purposeful” and manipulative. I just saw a reviewer yesterday compare a clearly more expensive, more powerful newer machine against the 2020 M1 Pro yesterday to give a false impression of M1 weakness. Your opening graph cut through all the BS! It measured the improved power, performance and efficiency across time and activities. That’s REAL reviewing, measuring the “truth” of a thing. I know we’ll see a bunch of “smoke and mirrors” reviewers trying to make sure their preferred brand doesn’t look to bad against Apple’s latest, but you did your job today. Great review.

Yes Rene, please do some Logic Pro test, how many heavy virtual instruments you can load, plugins that use lot of CPU like u-he Diva, or Omnisphere, etc…

I'd like to see a comparison of low latency recording in Logic, multiple tracks loaded with effects, including software instruments, reverb, compression and eq. Which computer can achieve the lowest recording latency without drop-outs? Also, which computer can play back the most tracks with a reasonable buffer? Which computer is quietest during the tests?
