Don’t forget that electrical signal goes to a cell tower if a cell phone call. The cell tower is connected by cable or fiber to a central office that has the equipment that sets up an outgoing connection to the called number. This signal travels over cable or fiber to the CO that is within the location of the called number. Land lines use cable pairs to connect to the Central Office.
