Disney’s ALADDIN London will be hosting their second Autism-Friendly Performance on Tuesday 28 August 2018. Partnering again with the National Autistic Society, a specially adapted performance of ALADDIN The Musical will be made suitable for people with autism, with trained staff on hand, and dedicated quiet and activity areas set up should anyone need to leave their seats.

Breathtaking sets, astonishing special effects, over 350 lavish costumes and a fabulous cast and orchestra bring the magic of Disney’s Aladdin to life on the West End stage. Directed by Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Dreamgirls) and featuring all the songs from the classic Academy Award®-winning film including ‘Friend Like Me’, ‘A Whole New World’ and ‘Arabian Nights’, experience the unmissable ‘theatrical magic’ (Daily Telegraph) that is Aladdin.

Speaking as an Autistic myself, I think that's a really cool thing to do. I don't think I would have had a problem with it as a kid, but I know it's not the same for everyone else. So good on you, Disney.

I wonder if anyone who isn't autistic or hasn't any other additional needs been to one of these performances because I must imagine for certain people theaters can be quite disconcerting with loud noises and special effects going off making them jump etc especially if they have fear of loud noises or might suffer from PTSD being ex service personnel for e.g.

Relaxed performances like these must be a godsend to them meaning they don't feel let out the same as additional needs people about not going to the theater and feel included to see shows they mayn't do otherwise because of the sensory overload which may stop them visiting originally.
