The chief constable of Northamptonshire Police Nick Adderley, who was suspended for lying about his military record has been found guilty of gross misconduct.

He has been suspended on full pay since October for exaggerating his own rank and length of service and lying about his naval achievements - including implying that he served in the Falklands War - despite being 15 when the conflict broke out in 1982.

Why wasn’t it flagged in the vetting? There are better checks to work at Tesco than in the Police it seems..

He was on £176, 500 / year. No wonder Northamptonshire council has run out of money!

Doesnt give much confidence in their criminal investigations if they can't even do background checks on employees. Full pay since October, how lovely for him

If they’re not checking Chief Constables they are not checking lower ranks.

How could he have gotten away with this in the first place? Surely when he told the interview panel he was a veteran they would've checked his military service record. The Northamptonshire Police and Crime Commissioner who was in office then has serious questions to answer

As a Falkland resident, and leader of the Island underground militia and armed resistance during the Argentinian invasion I find his lying despicable.

When the police can’t even be bothered to investigate something as simple as this, what chances are there of any idiot investigating anything? It’s a job for life for doing sod all!
