A video showing how to make Iron oxide powder or rust powder. Rust is a valuable ingredient in many pyrotechnic recipes, mainly thermite, but it can also be added to other mixtures as an oxidizer.

You can also get any iron thing to oxidize within seconds using a mixture of peroxide white vinegar salt and pouring it in an atomizer
70% perox
30% vineg
Any amount of salt just dont clog the atomizer
Although i am not sure how well it works when doing thermite

Nice color. I usually make electrolysis and then dry the precipitate. After drying I heat it and it turns into a more vivid red. I noticed if I don't dry the precipitate and heat it right after filtering it becomes a darker red.

So if I used this method, you're saying that I can use the rust from metal scrapes, let it sit in some watery substance for some time, filter it, and use it as a dye for my synthetic stone factory?

You can use salt safely, just rinse your rust several times if you are worried about purity. Adding sodium hydroxide should speed it up dramatically.

I accidentaly ended here, but I enjoy this video. I watched it with wide opened eyes xD. It looks like you are plotting the end of the world.

Or you could buy a nice new Chevy truck it comes with lots of rust from the factory !

There are a few things you can add that will hasten the process, like poasstium nitrate, use 3% peroxide instead of straight water, or adding a little table salt.

Great video! I know this seems like a paradox but can you make anti- corrosion BLO based paint with this oxide?

I like the ID Channel music you got playing in the background

Huh, interesting. I'm going to use it to tint cement.

I've done this using wire wool in a mix of Bleach and white vinegar. Done outside though due to the heavy chlorine produced. I had rust within 30 seconds :-)

It seems doing it this way makes a better product and a nice brick red colour compared to electrolosys. The later seems to always give dark ugly colours. This way makes much more useful product. Good video.

This can also be used to make a vivid red paint!

You could burn the filters and separate ash and iron oxide via magnet.

the water and wait method, though long still, can probably be sped up with multiple fishtank bubblers.

Could you use the “liquid rust” to paint straight from the container?

so how much time did it take to rust the iron in water before you had that slurry please?
