Apparently this is caused by the "applique" gloss black trim squeaking that is on the outside of both the front and rear doors at the b-pillar area. When hot, expansion occurs and the plastic becomes slightly more pliable. In this state, the back of the plastic is able to rub against the door underneath. Travelling over bumps causes ever so slight flexing of the body which leads to slight movement in the doors which leads to movement in this trim. The "tick" is actually a squeak. I read in one forum where a dealer removed the 4 pieces of trim -- one each door -- and applied tape(gaffers) to the backs and re-attached to alleviate the noise

I have the same issue going on for three years! It’s not the piano trim outside because if you push on the door speakers it goes away!! They just keep adding 3M tape that does not work!! It’s something plastic because it only rattles when the weather is between 70-90 degrees (in my sq5). Is that the same for you? My vehicle is a 2015 and has done it since new going on 3 1/2 years. Please let me know if they fix yours;) good luck!
