Iqaluit filmmaker tells lesbian love story

Athethea Amaquq-Barilt says her lesbian love story, Aviliaq:Entwined, has already started some good conversations in Nunavut, and she hopes to screen it in smaller communities in the North as well. “As Christianity encroaches on Inuit beliefs,” the film asks, “can the two women remain lovers?” The Vancouver Women in Film Festival presents Aviliaq on Thursday, March 10, 2016.
