COVID-19 Alert: Surgical masks & respirators in short supply

Surgical masks and respirators are flying off the shelves at stores across the country as people prepare for a possible COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

@ 2:19, Barbara-Lee Edwards holds up a 3M N95 mask. At the center of that mask is an exhalation valve hence its description as "cool flow" which makes breathing easier by 30%. This one-way air flow restriction valve allows the user to breathe outward while preventing exterior unfiltered air from entering. At the outside top of the mask is a thin metal bar. This pliable bar is to be compressed such that it conforms to the shape of the nose in order to provide a good seal. The front of the mask has upper and lower elastic bands which hold the mask snugly against the face to prevent leakage from outside unfiltered air.

As a healthcare worker, they make it seem like a mask fit test is some big process lol. Its NOT, I can tell you right now the mask fitting process takes literally 5 minutes sometimes less, we do it annually. You put the mask you like on, a big hood goes over your head to your shoulders, a sour tasting gas is shot inside the hood and you have turn your head side to side breathing in and out, then bend over and back up breathing in and out then you have to read a paragraph. At any point you taste the sour gas, the mask is simply re-adjusted then the fit test is re done. Simple, nothing special to it. No training either. It's not some big extravagant process like they make it seem lol.

I will sell my masks to the hospital for $100, 000 because that is what they would charge me for them .

P 100 will work ad long as fitted and worn properly. Saying it may not work is the true misinformation. Shame on not being updated.

N 95s are not p-100 p 100 does work if fitted properly.

In order to have better self protection, please use medical sticker to seal the left and right edges of face mask on your face after wearing face mask.

Make your own mask out of cloth.
Antiseptic wipes also sold out. Make your own using baby wipes with hydrogen peroxide added to them ...or bleach or alcohol

Those paint respiratory masks at hardware at paint stores only protect the user the ones with the front value on it releases the exhaled air but filters incoming air from dust particles doesnt work for lead based paint or narly chemicals or viruses this is only good for the user not anyone else who doesnt have on those 3m maskes etc I can say this with 100 percent confidence as I have worked in the trade in the past
