I don't feature much non MG-Rover content on this channel but do jump at the chance to drive something I loved as a kid!

Here, join me with the owner and his son as I review the Daihatsu Fourtrak. Known in Japan as Rugger and everywhere else as Rocky!

These were everywhere, proper load luggers & super reliable, very rare sight these days & credit to the owner for preserving such a beautiful Fourtrak

got 3 of these. Awesome trucks as long as you protect them from rust. One of mine is on 470k and drives perfect, its the commerical one called the fieldman.

Looks good, my dad owned short wheel base one. I live in Indonesia swb version called Daihatsu TAFT. They have naturally aspirated diesel engine, 4speed gearbox, leave spring front n rear and solid axle front n rear

It was the F78 model that you drove, the dial in the centre of the dash is a inclinometer

That was a nice change Rob. Elic? Seems like the kind of bloke I'd have a Guinness with. I'm sure in Oz it's also the fourtrack, but haven't checked. A nice 4x4 that goes under the radar., like a grown up Suzuki Jimny. Question for the Rover lovers, this or the mk1 Freelander. ?

A lot of these engine's we're put into landrovers because landrover could never make a good diesel engine.

These were a hugely underrated car. Of course it’s not going to set the bitumen alight but they were great load luggers and were more mechanically reliable than the Land Rover by then. Just a shame they seemed prone to the tin worm.

Thanks for the video.

I remember wanting one back when they came out. If I had known the market back then I could have gotten a good deal on a near new one.

Not sure on the legality of using those fold-down seats the back these days. This is a great little truck though and they last for ages if looked after. Great to throw the dog in and get around the countryside without worrying about damage to the vehicle so much.
