Thank God for you, Michael. You are a blessing.

For everyone asking where are the "limits", Michael says it in the speech. Why are you people pretending he didn't? *Threats, fraud, and obscenities, * all of which are illegal. And I would add 'actual incitement to actual violence' _(which he might mean when he says 'threats')._

We can't rely on speech for trust at this point I mean CNN and msnpc still exist

Free speech means nobody can prevent you from saying what you want.
But free speech is not speech free of consequence. If you lie, it will be punished as libel. If you threaten, you will be resisted.
Freedom means you can throw words or stones at your own peril. Censorship is banning stones or gagging you.

I agree with 80% of this
Cause when it comes to obscenity
That is free speech
Cause who decides what is considered so called obscenity

People are asking where are the limits, but the limits are as outlined: threats, fraud, and obscenity. As far as how these get defined by law, we do at least have the benefit of a constitution that lays out how we might figure that out. Unfortunately, it is prone to disrespect and ignorance, but that is also evidence of ill-defined limits on the liberty allowed by the government defined by said constitution. Nonetheless, the constitution defines a process, and respected or not, it doesn't happen on its own, so we might as well know it, and assert ourselves where we can so we have a better chance at arriving at more practical limits to more freely exercise our morals and liberties.

Silliness. If you get to jail people who you think are guilty of “obscene speech” what’s to stop them from jailing you for equally subjective reasons.

Cancel culture is the boundary nowadays.

Having some limits with free speech really isn't the problem. The problem is with "Who" is allowed to determine what the limits are

So who gets to draw the line? The government, the church, the majority of the population? Free speech is just that. With great freedom comes great responsibility.

How do you get to hell?
Very simple: claim that you're innocent.

How do you get to heaven?
Very simple: Admit that you're not Innocent, you're guilty and ask for mercy.

How to know if you're guilty or not?
Simply: Compare your life to the Ten Commandments God gave you in the Bible.
Everyone agrees that if people followed the ten commandments there would be no need for governments or police.

Do not lie.
Do not steal.
Do not commit adultery.
Do not insult God by using his name as a cuss word.
There are six more but let's just leave it at that.

How many lies have you told in your life?

Have you ever taken anything that didn't belong to you?

Jesus said, if you look at a women lustfully you've already committed adultery in your heart with that woman.
How many times a day do you do that?

Do you use God's name as a cuss word?
Would you do that with your own mother's name?

If you answer these questions honestly you know that you're guilty.

God can justly punish you and send you to hell.

Ask him for mercy.
His name is Jesus.

It's as simple as this, The Ten Commandments are called the moral law. You and I broke God's laws. Jesus paid the fine.
The fine is death.

Ezekiel 18:20 —
"The soul who sins shall die.

That's why Jesus had to die on the cross for our sins. This is why God is able to give us Mercy.

Option A.
You die for your own sins.

Option B.
Ask for mercy and accept that Jesus died on the cross for you.

I've watched and multiple videos today, this being one, only to see it pop up again a few hours later with no like...

If all threats aren't free speech, then we have to police ourselves and our jokes and every time we get into a scuffle we have to worry about a fine or arrest. I actually disagree with you Michael Knowles.
I think doxxing and rallying violence should be illegal because they cause harm. An empty threat? That doesn't cause any harm.

Obscenity? Are you kidding me? You are advocating for a world without good comedy. The cornerstone of our society's creative power comes from freedom of speech and freedom of expression. Slippery slope down to the "words are violence, and microaggressions should be punished." Not a good take from you Michael. Big fan though.

Words can't hurt but a threat is not just words they are a promise

I fundamentally disagree with this stance.

The moment you place limits on speech is the moment you’re allowing others to continue restricting/censoring.

This is justifying oppression, censorship and degradation of rights—in action.

I see Michael's and I do agree with the, "you can't scream fire into a crowded movie or incite actual harm to another or their but otherwise, take the training wheels off.

Society manages to curtail that stuff in its own way as long as government doesn't interfere.

If you're unclean and people shun you. If you use inordinate amounts of profanity .... people won't respect you.... if you yell a racial you may find yourself getting your face punched etc etc.

I'd rather face the ugliness of our society head on. If you're a racist .... I wanna know it. If you're a feminist I wanna know if you're just an I wanna know that too.

If rights are serious things, then you suffer social costs. That's what it means to be serious about rights.

If you don't see it that way? You're a tourist. A paper skinned emaciated facsimile of a human being wholly inadequate to the necessities of an adult existence.

Grow some skin. The world is hard for everyone. EVERYone.
